Job summary

New River Community College (NRCC) is seeking a FastForward/G3 Career Coach to help non-credit and credit-bearing students transition to employment and credential attainment. Qualifications

• Knowledge of barriers to educational success and a desire to help others reach their educational goals using evidence‑based solutions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage, support, and motivate students.
• Excellent customer service and follow-up abilities.
• Understanding of diverse backgrounds and inclusive communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist students enrolled in FastForward programs in preparing for transitions to employment.
• Serve as liaison between Workforce Development and Student Services, keeping policies informed.
• Discuss career goals and pathways with students, including short-term credentials and degree programs.
• Use a case management model and document interactions with FastForward students.
• Meet with students individually and in groups, including evening classes, to provide career planning advice.
• Connect students to tutoring, academic supports, and financial aid resources including G3 funding and Federal Title IV aid.
• Conduct follow-up studies after students enter the workforce.
• Utilize technology and other resources to connect with students.
• Contribute to Workforce Development and Student Services teams and maintain a presence in both departments’ locations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
