Job summary

Virginia Community College System seeks a FastForward/G3 Career Coach to support students transitioning from training to employment. The role includes case-management, coordinating with Workforce Development and Student Services, and helping students access financial aid and G3 funding.

The two-year grant ends May 31, 2028; the coach will provide career-planning guidance, monitor progress, and maintain regular contact with FastForward and credit-bearing program students.

Qualifications

• Ability to assist diverse students in goal setting and planning.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with confidential student records.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in transitions to employment from FastForward programs.
• Serve as a liaison between Workforce Development and Student Services.
• Discuss career goals and pathways with students, including short-term credentials and degrees.
• Utilize a case-management model to document interactions and progress.
• Meet with students individually and in groups (including evening classes) for career planning.
• Connect students to tutoring and financial aid resources (including G3 funding).
• Conduct follow-up studies of student experiences after entering the workforce.
• Maintain a physical presence in the locations of the Workforce Development and Student Services teams.
