Job summary

Gaston County Schools is seeking an Assistant Basketball Coach who will model high moral character and uphold top teaching standards. The coach will work with the Head Basketball Coach, faculty, and staff to support student-athlete academic and moral success on and off the court.

The role requires following the Head Coach's lead, promoting basketball within and outside the school, maintaining discipline, and assisting with scheduling, transportation, and event preparation.

Qualifications

• Successful coaching experience in basketball.
• Coaching experience in a public school system preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follows the lead of the Head Basketball Coach.
• Promotes the sport within the school through recruiting athletes who are not other sports programs.
• Promotes the sport outside the school.
• Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation.
• Attends all practices and games.
• Provides training rules and safeguards for athletes.
• Gives attention to student athletes grades and conduct.
