Job summary

World Explorers is seeking enthusiastic Afterschool Counselors in Brooklyn to join our afterschool, school break, and summer programs. You’ll help run safe, structured activities for Pre‑K through 5th grade and support students in completing assignments after school.

We value dependable, energetic individuals who enjoy working with children and can lead groups with patience and care. Opportunities for professional development and advancement are available, with paid training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 17 years old.
• Senior year of High School or equivalent required.
• Experience working with children in schools, camps, childcare, recreation, or youth programs preferred.
• College coursework or a related degree is a plus.
• Complete required background checks and onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and actively engage groups of elementary‑aged students in the program.
• Lead games, arts and crafts, STEM activities, and outdoor recreation.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for every child.
• Encourage positive behavior and help develop social and emotional skills.
• Ensure safety during transitions, activities, snacks, and dismissal.
• Support homework time and academic enrichment when applicable.
• Assist with attendance, classroom organization, daily setup, and cleanup.
• Communicate professionally with site supervisors, coworkers, families, and school staff.
• Follow all policies, licensing requirements, and safety procedures.
• Serve as a positive role model with professionalism, patience, teamwork, and enthusiasm.
