Job summary

Mission Hospital McDowell, part of Mission Health under HCA Healthcare, seeks a Speech Pathologist PRN to evaluate patients, develop care plans, and coordinate therapy services. The role may include off-site duties as needed within the department.

Responsibilities include documenting evaluations and progress, educating patients and families, and collaborating with physicians and care teams to ensure smooth transitions in patient care. North Carolina licensure and ASHA certification required.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or related field.
  • Current North Carolina license to practice Speech Therapy and ASHA certification; BLS required.
  • CCC-SLP or CFY is preferred.
  • New graduates eligible; no experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients' communication, cognitive, and swallowing abilities using structured assessments and clinical observation.
  • Develop and adjust individualized treatment plans to improve communication safety and functional progress.
  • Document evaluations, daily notes, progress updates, and discharge summaries accurately and timely.
  • Educate patients and families on therapy goals, safety, home strategies, and expected progress.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing and rehabilitation teams to support coordinated care.

Education

Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology
North Carolina License to practice Speech Therapy
ASHA certification
BLS Healthcare Provider
CCC-SLP or CFY (preferred)
