Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education with a valid North Carolina teaching certificate.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrate strong content knowledge.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
• Comply with confidentiality requirements in local, state, and federal policies.
• Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Follow all rules, policies, and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and aligns with school guidelines.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that meet stated objectives.
• Assess student progress and provide progress reports as required.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
• Assist administration in implementing policies and maintaining classroom order and protocols.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants and evaluate their job performance.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence and support school vision.
• Attend staff meetings and carry out noninstructional duties as required.
• Perform related duties as required by the Principal.
