Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking an IDEA Academy teacher to ensure students master academics and social skills, while embodying our values. The role focuses on rigorous instruction, data-driven interventions, and collaboration with families to promote college readiness.

The compensation starts at $57,500 with stipends for certifications and campus leadership, plus performance-based pay. Additional after-school and tutoring opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• High level of content-area proficiency as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work-experience (strongly preferred).
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required).
• Experience: Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred).
• Licenses or Certifications: Reading Academies certification or willingness to obtain TX training; bilingual certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
• Assess to track each student’s progress, adjust plans, and update gradebook weekly.
• Communicate students’ progress with students and families weekly.
• Implement a clear behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives.
• Host tutoring sessions after school or on Saturdays as needed.
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins and grade-level meetings.
