Job summary

St. Andrew the Apostle School in Silver Spring is hiring a 2nd grade teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This is a full time role and will report to the Principal. The compensation for this position is $50,000 with excellent benefits.

The Catholic elementary school teacher is responsible to deliver instruction that is based on the approved curricula and mission of the school, and to create a safe, orderly and Catholic learning environment for his/her students.

Qualifications

• Current teacher certification in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC (candidates have 3 years from hire to earn their certification).
• Knowledge of child development and supervision.
• Experience teaching in an elementary school setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Create lesson plans that align with Archdiocese of Washington Academic and Religious Standards.
• Utilize assessment data to differentiate instruction and inform teaching.
• Deliver a balanced program of instruction including direct, guided, and hands‑on activities.
• Maintain a grade book, communicate progress to parents, and prepare quarterly reports.
• Foster Catholic values and plan liturgical activities as required.
• Perform non‑instructional duties and participate in faculty meetings.
