Job summary

The Buell Foundation, based in Denver, seeks a Program Officer to manage relationships with grant applicants and grantees, oversee grant reviews, site visits, and evaluations, and contribute to program ideas. You will collaborate with a small team and work closely with peers across foundations supporting early childhood development and teen pregnancy prevention.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in nonprofit or public sector.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit operations and grantmaking.
• Knowledge in early childhood or teen pregnancy prevention preferred.
• Familiarity with Colorado, especially rural counties, preferred.
• Experience in a small, mission-driven team environment.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and analyzes assigned grant applications, conducts site visits, and composes evaluations.
• Works with grantees to identify, implement, and prioritize quality improvement efforts and evaluation.
• Builds and maintains active relationships with grantseekers and grant recipients.
• Represents the Foundation in interactions with philanthropic colleagues, nonprofit organizations, public officials, and the public.
• Acquires and maintains knowledge of the Foundation's focus area (early childhood development).
• Undertakes special projects as assigned or initiated.
