Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking an Impact Finance Senior Accountant to lead complex accounting for assigned products and entities. You will drive GAAP compliance, period-end reporting, and internal controls while partnering with teams across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience.
  • Eight or more years of financial accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in GAAP, regulatory reporting, and internal controls.
  • Power BI and Workday experience preferred.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Own accounting processes for assigned products, portfolios, and entities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Ensure GAAP and SOX/regulatory compliance; maintain audit-ready docs.
  • Analyze financial results, identify risks, and propose solutions.
  • Support audits and regulatory examinations with documentation.
  • Act as accounting SME; drive strategic initiatives and cross-functional communication.
  • Lead automation, standardization, and process redesign with Tech/Operations.
  • Coach and mentor team members; provide feedback and promote knowledge sharing.

Job Description

The Impact Finance Senior Accountant is responsible for accurate, timely, and controlled accounting and reporting for assigned products, portfolios, legal entities, and business activities. Serving as a subject matter expert, this role leads complex accounting processes, supports financial and regulatory reporting, maintains strong controls, partners across the organization, and drives process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own accounting processes for assigned products, portfolios, legal entities, and business activities, including complex journal entries, reconciliations, workpapers, and period-end reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory reporting requirements, internal accounting policies, and SOX and regulatory controls.
  • Analyze financial results, trends, unusual transactions, and accounting issues; identify risks, control deficiencies, process gaps, and appropriate solutions.
  • Support audits and regulatory examinations and maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Serve as an accounting subject matter expert, support strategic initiatives and accounting assessments, and communicate conclusions to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Drive automation, standardization, process redesign, and department-wide transformation efforts in partnership with Technology and Operations.
  • Coach and train team members, review work, provide feedback, and promote knowledge sharing and best practices.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
  • Eight or more years of experience in financial accounting activities
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications; Power BI and Workday experience preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of GAAP, accounting, reporting, analysis, and other regulations.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify exceptions, research complex accounting issues, and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage multiple priorities, and navigate ambiguity.
  • Experience leading projects, improving and automating processes, and mentoring team members.
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly to financial and non-financial audiences.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).

Pay Range: $98,175.00 - $115,500.00
