Job summary

The Beirne B. Carter Immunology Research Center at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate to perform advanced experimental research in immune regulation of lung injury, recovery, and disease progression.

Qualifications

  • PhD or terminal degree in Immunology, Virology, Lung Biology or related field at time of hire.
  • Experience with small animal procedures, flow cytometry, and molecular biology.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sophisticated experimental research on immune regulation of lung injury, recovery and chronic disease development following infection.
  • Participate in multiple lab projects and write study reports for sponsors, papers, and grants.
  • Attend and participate in lab meetings and CIC seminars; mentor students, technicians, fellows and collaborators.
  • Maintain and upkeep of laboratory facilities and assist with other duties as assigned.
