Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute in San Antonio, TX seeks an Immunologist III to lead immunology and biochemistry research on a large government contract. You will design work plans, mentor small teams, and deliver technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations. The role requires a PhD/MS/BS with extensive lab experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel domestically.

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearances are required; a hybrid in‑office/remote schedule

Qualifications

• PhD +2 years, MS +5, or BS +10 years of experience in biochemistry, immunology, or related field.
• Five or more years of experience in a laboratory-based facility and the ability to plan and conduct research.
• Proven ability to conduct experiments according to SOPs.
• Hands-on immunological and biochemical analyses (SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, etc.).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to propose and secure research funding.
• Ability to communicate complex data to customers and end users.
• Team player with mentoring capability across disciplines.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain required government security clearances.
• Willingness to work in a BSL-2 laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Identify, propose, and secure new projects for on-contract growth.
• Apply immunology and biochemistry expertise to novel challenges.
• Design and lead laboratory efforts with small teams in a BSL-2 environment.
• Collaborate with project managers and customers on objectives and deliverables.
• Perform advanced experiments, research, and analysis.
• Translate data into key findings and reports.
• Maintain lab records per quality standards and safety requirements.
• Mentor lab personnel in key skill areas.
• Travel domestically as needed.
