Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL is seeking a Medical Director/Senior Medical Director to oversee translational immunology clinical development. You will supervise trial design, data interpretation, and cross‑functional collaboration to support product strategy and regulatory submissions.

The role requires MD/DO with residency and translational research experience, plus strong communication in English; gastroenterology subspecialty is desirable. Significant leadership across global teams is expected.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or non-US equivalent of MD degree
• Completion of a residency program strongly preferred
• Desirable gastroenterology subspecialty fellowship
• Translational research experience preferred
• Experience in clinical trials and data interpretation
• Strong English written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, execution, and interpretation of clinical trials in an immunology translational program under supervision
• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality clinical data for regulatory and business strategy
• Manage study protocol design, site education, and timelines for key deliverables
• Ensure regulatory compliance, GCP, pharmacovigilance standards, and quality SOPs
• Contribute to reporting, publications, regulatory submissions, and clinical study reports
• Collaborate with Clinical Strategy, Medical Affairs, and other functions to align clinical development plans
