Job summary

Biogen is seeking an Associate Director in Immunobiology Open Innovation to advance target validation and external collaborations from South San Francisco. The role interfaces with Discovery, Translational Science, and Business Development to shape portfolio decisions.

The candidate will lead mechanistic data packages and translational strategy across in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo studies, mentoring scientists while communicating insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• PhD with 8+ years in inflammatory/autoimmune drug discovery.
• Deep innate/adaptive immune biology knowledge.
• Experience guiding drug discovery strategy and cross-functional teams.
• Leadership experience mentoring scientists.

Responsibilities

• Identify targets, pathways, biomarkers and external opportunities for immune-mediated diseases.
• Support scientific due diligence with mechanistic evaluation and competitive analysis.
• Translate learnings into broader research insights for program priorities.
• Guide experimental/translational strategy for in vitro to in vivo studies.
• Communicate complex data to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
• Represent the team with academics and industry partners; mentor colleagues.
