Job summary

RFCUNY is seeking a Staff Attorney to provide immigration-related consultations and application assistance at the immigration center. The role focuses on naturalization and family-based immigration law, reporting to the Supervisor Attorney. It is a hybrid position with at least 3 days in the assigned center.

The ideal candidate holds a J.D. and State Bar admission, with preferred immigration experience and second language ability.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and legal writing abilities required.
• Experience or passion for immigration issues preferred.
• Second language ability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Counsels participants on immigration law and related issues.
• Assists participants in completing and reviewing immigration applications.
• Reviews and authorizes release of applications and petitions by paralegal staff.
• Ensures staff and volunteers comply with policies and procedures.
• Conducts immigration workshops and seminars for staff and communities.
• Interprets laws and regulations for staff and partners.
• Analyzes complex case types including criminal convictions and fraud.
• Ensures data/reports on services rendered are compiled.
