The Legal Aid Society’s Civil Practice in New York seeks a Paralegal Casehandler to support the Immigration Law Unit's NYIFUP, focusing on detained removal defense. You will aid the Project Coordinator with data collection, entry, and reporting, and assist attorneys with case management in removal proceedings at Varick, Newark, and Elizabeth.

You will join an interdisciplinary team, prepare relief applications and affidavits, gather client information, and provide direct client support.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• Paralegal certificate from ABA-accredited program.
• High school diploma / GED with 4+ years of legal work experience.
• 4+ years combined higher education and legal work experience.

Responsabilidades

• Provide basic case file and case management (Law Manager) database maintenance and organization.
• Enter and search data on various databases.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports from databases.
• Provide direct assistance to clients.
• Assist project attorneys with litigation tasks.
• Prepare relief applications and draft affidavits for clients.
• Gather information and documentation from clients.
• Assist with representation before USCIS as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
