Job summary

Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid in Minneapolis seeks a full-time Immigration Staff Attorney to provide full representation in removal proceedings, adjustment of status, citizenship applications, and VAWA-based cases. The ILP serves immigrant communities across Minnesota with client-centered advocacy and high-quality legal work.

This position offers a hybrid work environment and a salary of $80,000 to $87,273 per year, with benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice law or have taken the July 2026 bar exam.
• Commitment to serving low-income/vulnerable clients.
• At least two years of immigration law experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide full representation to individuals in immigration court in both detained and non-detained cases.
• Prepare and submit pleadings, motions, and appropriate applications for relief from removal.
• Prepare clients, witnesses, and experts for individual hearings; submit appeals when appropriate.
• Provide full representation to individuals in affirmative immigration cases: prepare applications to USCIS and maintain client contact.
• Advise clients on options to apply for immigration benefits and assess criminal records for immigration consequences.
• Conduct outreach to Know Your Rights presentations and legal clinics to provide advice.
• Assist ILP in grant proposals, reports, and data maintenance.
• Maintain a caseload with court and benefits cases, analyzing each case and resolving issues timely.
