Qualifications

• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.

Role Description

The Immigration Attorney is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA. This role involves providing direct legal representation and advice to refugees and immigrants on matters such as family-based immigration, visas, humanitarian relief, and other immigration benefits. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting client intakes, assessing eligibility, preparing and filing applications and petitions, and maintaining accurate case files. The Immigration Attorney will meet with clients, communicate case updates, and represent clients before USCIS, immigration courts, and other relevant agencies as permitted. The role also includes staying current on changes in immigration law, collaborating with support staff and community partners, and participating in outreach, education, and training activities to inform communities about immigration options and rights.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of immigration law, including Immigration Law and Immigration Issues, with experience advising on complex immigration matters.
• Knowledge of specific immigration processes such as Visas and broader Immigration procedures, including family, humanitarian, and employment-based pathways.
• Ability to analyze and address Legal Issues related to immigration, including case strategy, documentation, and compliance with regulations.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in any U.S. state; eligibility to practice immigration law before federal agencies.
• Prior experience working with refugee, immigrant, or other marginalized communities is highly beneficial.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills, with strong attention to detail and time management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-cultural environment and demonstrate trauma-informed, client-centered care.
• Proficiency in a language in addition to English (such as Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, or other commonly spoken languages in the region) is a plus.
