Who We Are


The Law Offices of Michael J. Gurfinkel, Inc is a well-established immigration law firm headquartered in Glendale, CA, with branch offices in San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, and an administrative office in Makati, Philippines. We are seeking an associate attorney for our Glendale, CA Office. Our firm has been in business for over 30 years, and we pride ourselves that most of our staff have been with us for 10, 15, or even 20 years, as we continue to grow with increased caseload with global clients.

What We Are Looking For

As a boutique immigration law firm, we are looking for an attorney who can manage multiple cases, work in a smaller team environment, and is dedicated and passionate about client service.

The ideal candidate should: have minimum 3 years’ extensive experience in all immigration law areas, including removal/deportations, AOS interviews, family and employment based petitions, and consular processing; be from an accredited law school and in good standing with an active California State Bar license; be able to handle a minimum of 100 case load; be self-motivated and willing to take feedback; show accountability in managing cases and paralegals; have a strong and collaborative work ethic; have the ability to communicate succinctly be willing to travel outside the Los Angeles area for appearances; have knowledge of MS Suite and immigration software, such as INSZOOM or similar programs.

General Responsibilities

  • Manage and handle caseload and paralegal assigned to the case from start to end
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on various immigration cases, including but not limited to writing of briefs, waivers, motions, appeals, declarations, and reviewing all relevant documents/packets for submission
  • Travel for and attend appearances on behalf of clients and prepare clients prior to briefings or appearances along with necessary documents and packets
  • Maintain client interface and communication as needed and in coordination with assigned paralegal
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration law and regulations
  • Conduct phone or in-person consultations, as needed.
  • Maintain and adhere to legal management policies and use of case management systems
