Job summary

Vazquez & Poudat, PLLC in Orlando is seeking an Associate Attorney fluent in Spanish and English to join our boutique immigration practice. You will work directly with the firm's partners on a varied caseload of employment, business and family immigration matters, from initial strategy through filing, RFEs and interviews.

This is an ideal role for an attorney who wants to build a career in immigration law, learn from experienced practitioners and take on increasing responsibility as their skills

Qualifications

  • J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active license in the U.S. (Florida Bar preferred).
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong legal writing and research skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced practice.
  • Immigration law experience is a plus but not required.
  • French language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assess client eligibility and help develop case strategy under the guidance of the partners.
  • Prepare petitions, applications, support letters, briefs and responses to RFEs and Notices of Intent to Deny.
  • Draft business-related documents supporting immigration filings, including client declarations and corporate documentation.
  • Conduct legal research on immigration statutes, regulations, policy guidance and case law.
  • Prepare clients for USCIS interviews and consular appointments, and attend interviews as needed.
  • Communicate with clients in Spanish and English, explaining complex processes clearly and with care.
  • Review and organize evidence, translations and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate, well-organized client files and case records.
  • Collaborate with partners, legal assistants and outside professionals such as business plan writers and translators.

  • Full professional fluency in Spanish and English, written and spoken (required)
  • Strong legal writing and research skills, with close attention to detail
  • Excellent client communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced practice
  • Collaborative and eager to learn
  • Immigration law experience (clerkship, clinic, internship or practice) is a plus but not required
  • French language skills are a plus
