Job summary

PENDERGAST SCHOOL DISTRICT Transportation in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Vehicle Mechanic to ensure district vehicles are in safe operating condition and documented per regulations. The role requires monitoring repairs, maintaining records, and supporting bid specifications for buses and trucks.

The position is 12-month and reports to the Director of Transportation. Qualified candidates will have a CDL Class B with P endorsement, ASE certification, CPR/First Aid, and relevant diesel/heavy truck

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Experience as a bus mechanic, diesel mechanic or heavy truck mechanic.
• Commercial Driver's License (Class B with P Endorsement).
• ASE certification.
• CPR and first-aid certification.
• Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP).
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members.

Responsibilities

• Assist with writing specifications for buses and trucks to meet bid requirements.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance bays and keep hazards to a minimum.
• Coordinate preventive vehicle maintenance to keep vehicles safe.
• Fabricate parts as needed for repairs.
• Inspect vehicles and document condition to meet federal/state requirements.
• Maintain repair records, costs and warranties for compliance.
• Perform minor body work to maintain appearance and safety.
• Occasionally perform bus driver duties to ensure coverage.
• Prepare documentation such as maintenance logs and reports for compliance.
