Job Specific Information: This position involves teaching 4th grade ELA and Social Studies all day and will run from April 1 through the end of the school year. The wage range for this position is between $20.29 and $33.77 an hour. Additional benefits information can be found here.
Under the direction of the school principal, the teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. The role includes creating an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Responsibilities include supervising students in various school-related settings, monitoring and evaluating student outcomes, and communicating with students, parents, staff, and the community. The teacher develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students, maintains appropriate records, and follows required procedures and practices.
Must meet Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices. Understanding of the teaching/learning process. Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education. Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and the community. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. Knowledge and application of the six performance standards established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS) and the Supporting Services (SEIU) Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Bachelor's degree in the applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
