Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a knowledgeable and passionate high school science educator to teach Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. KIPP Indy science teachers are responsible for delivering inquiry-based instruction that helps students understand and apply key scientific concepts while developing critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver engaging lesson plans for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics that align with state standards.
• Foster scientific inquiry and experimentation in the classroom.
• Regularly assess student progress and use data to inform instruction.
• Maintain an organized and safe laboratory and classroom environment.
• Build strong classroom management skills.
• Build relationships with students and families to support academic and personal success.
• Collaborate with the academic team to plan instruction and align curriculum across grade levels.
• Provide real-time feedback to students to promote their growth in science.
• Use differentiated instruction and scaffolding techniques to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Work with academic coaches to improve instructional practices, embrace feedback, and pursue professional growth.
• Take ownership of your professional development by seeking learning opportunities and reflecting on your teaching practices.

Qualifications

• Experience creating a safe and engaging lab environment (preferred).
• Commitment to KIPP Indy’s mission and vision (required).
• Pass a criminal background check (required).

Additional Information

Licensed teacher starting at $50,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
