Job Summary:

Assures that department customer(s) needs are met through the efficient and effective leadership/management of department resources.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Core elements: Maintains 24-hour responsibility and accountability for operations of assigned department.
  2. Supports hospital mission and values statement, strategic plan and vision, and department service statement/department philosophy.
  3. Develops, administers, and evaluates department goals and objectives aligned with hospital goals.
  4. Develops, implements, and reviews department policies and procedures consistent with hospital policies.
  5. Manages department finances including:
  • Operating expenses
  • Human resource allocation
  • Capital expenditure
  • Revenue maximization
  • Ensures staff and self-competency through:
    • Timely performance appraisals
    • Mandatory continuing education attendance
    • Disciplinary actions when needed
    • Hiring qualified staff
    • Orientation within 30 days of hire
    • Ongoing professional development
    • Compliance with standards and certifications
  • Responsible for Quality Assessment and Improvement:
    • Develops and monitors QA&I plan
    • Implements QA&I in departmental processes
    • Eliminates waste and promotes teamwork
    • Fosters pride and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensures a safe work environment:
    • Compliance with infection control, hazard management, safety policies
  • Communicates effectively with:
    • Customers
    • Hospital staff and administration
    • Medical staff
  • Supports community engagement through participation in local events.
  • Clinical Hours: 20% of time is clinical hours.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's preferred.
    • 1-2 years of experience required.

    Mandatory Licensure/Certifications:

    Current RN license required.

    Work Shift:

    8:00 am - 5:00 pm (USA)

    Scheduled Weekly Hours:

    40 hours
