Job summary

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic examinations, prepare patients and equipment, and ensure image quality. This federal Direct Hire position requires certification and US citizenship.

Responsibilities include operating imaging equipment, administering contrast as needed, and coordinating with radiologists to deliver timely diagnostic imaging for beneficiaries in a high-volume clinical setting.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience performing radiographic procedures and maintaining equipment.
• Knowledge of imaging quality control and safety procedures.
• Ability to document and interpret imaging results for radiologists.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient, explain the procedure, set up the imaging suite and equipment.
• Independently perform routine to complex diagnostic radiographic procedures.
• Maintain patient flow by matching images to requests.
• Perform radiographic exams of skull, chest, pelvis, spine, abdomen and limbs.
• Review radiographs for diagnostic quality prior to radiologist interpretation.
• Administer contrast under physician supervision.
