Summary

Under general supervision of the Manager of Medical Imaging for the BHMGPC Division, operates x-ray, bone density, and computed tomographic scanner equipment to produce images of designated anatomical areas. Makes independent decisions for organization and scheduling of services. The role requires providing patient-centered care tailored to the needs of geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients, aligned with Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital’s mission, vision, and values, considering all developmental stages and cultural backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply the organization's core values of respect, honesty, and fairness, striving for excellence in health service delivery within a comprehensive academic health system.
  • Ensure compliance with the Brown University Health Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
  • Explain procedures to patients, ensuring safety and comfort, and review medical referrals and patient records.
  • Prepare supplies for contrast media injections and operate related equipment.
  • Operate and navigate relevant information systems (e.g., LifeChart, PACS, Terarecon).
  • Operate imaging equipment, check calibration, and perform warm-up procedures.
  • Position patients and equipment, monitor during procedures, and process images for review.
  • Perform specialized, non-routine computer functions, recordkeeping, and charge coding.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, coordinate maintenance, and maintain quality records.
  • Train staff and students, order supplies, and maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training activities.
Basic Knowledge and Experience

Completion of at least two years of formal training in Radiologic Technology or equivalent. Valid XR and CT licenses in Rhode Island, ARRT certification, and competence in multimodality imaging are required. Preferably, candidates will have two years of radiologic experience and one year of CT experience, including IV start skills.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work in healthcare settings with direct patient contact, operating medical equipment, and adhering to safety protocols. Physical demands include walking, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working with potential electrical hazards.
