Job summary

USA Health in Mobile, AL, is seeking an ultrasound technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound studies and support patient care. You will collaborate with physicians to select appropriate procedures, maintain documentation, and ensure safety and infection control standards.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, training staff when needed, and contributing to continuous improvement in imaging services within the radiology department.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved ultrasound training program or 2 years of ultrasound experience required.
  • RDMS or RVT registered with ARDMS/CCI upon Hire Required or RVS registered with CCI upon Hire Required.
  • Other combinations and experience may be considered as designated by the ARDMS/CCI registry eligibility requirements.
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures while performing studies.
  • Evaluates the clinical history of a patient with the test to be performed.
  • Consults with physicians to determine appropriate ultrasonic procedures required.
  • May train lower-level technicians in cardiac and vascular studies under supervision of an appropriately registered ultrasonographer or physician.
  • Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the oscilloscope at all times.
  • Differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognizes electronic equipment limitations.
  • Properly labels, coats, and mounts the permanent recording of the scans for protection and filing.
  • Researches, develops, and recommends new procedures and techniques to be used.
  • Provides in-service training to students and other personnel in ultrasound.
  • Maintains scan logs and procedure manuals.
  • Maintains service records on ultrasound equipment.
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements.
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as assigned

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

  • RVS registered with Cardiovascular Credentialing International Upon Hire Required

  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
