Job summary

USA Health is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to prepare patients for examinations and perform diagnostic ultrasound studies at our Mobile, Alabama campus. The role includes collaboration with physicians to select appropriate procedures and may involve training junior staff in cardiac and vascular imaging.

Qualified candidates will hold a High School Diploma or equivalent with an approved ultrasound program or 2 years of ultrasound experience and be RDMS/RVT or RVS credentialed on hire.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with approved ultrasound training or 2 years ultrasound experience.
  • RDMS or RVT registered with ARDMS/CCI upon hire.
  • RVS registered with CCI upon hire.
  • Other combinations may be considered per ARDMS/CCI eligibility.
  • Comparable education/experience substitutions allowed.

  • Evaluates the clinical history of a patient with the test to be performed.
  • Consults with physicians to determine appropriate ultrasonic procedures.
  • May train lower-level technicians in cardiac and vascular studies.

  • Adheres to infection control and safety standards.
  • Regular attendance and overtime as required.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures to patients while performing studies
  • Evaluates the clinical history of a patient with the test to be performed.
  • Consults with physicians to determine appropriate ultrasonic procedures required.
  • May train lower-level technicians in cardiac and vascular studies may perform cardiac/vascular studies for training purposes under direct supervision of an appropriately registered ultra sonographer or physician
  • Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the oscilloscope at all times
  • Differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognizes electronic equipment limitations
  • Properly labels, coats, and mounts the permanent recording of the scans for protection and filing.
  • Researches, develops, and recommends new procedures and techniques to be used
  • Provides in-service training to students and other personnel in ultrasound
  • Maintains scan logs and procedure manuals
  • Maintains service records on ultrasound equipment
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned
Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved ultrasound training program or 2 years of ultrasound experience Required
  • RDMS or RVT registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Upon Hire Required or
  • RVS registered with Cardiovascular Credentialing International Upon Hire Required
  • Other combinations and experience may be considered as designated by the ARDMS/CCI registry eligibility requirements
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
