The Imaging Services Supervisor is a leader who has the skills to facilitate and deliver high quality evidence-based collaborative care to patients receiving a range of modalities in radiology diagnostics and interventions. In collaboration with the Imaging Services Director, the Supervisor possesses clinical expertise with 24-hour clinical and administrative accountability for the functions of the Radiology Department, including MRI, CT, x-ray, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Mammography, Cardiovascular Services, and Bone Density. Administrative responsibilities include human resources, staffing performance improvement, accountability for self, peers and staff and technology and strategy. The supervisor possesses broad-based clinical and leadership skills including communication, mentoring, advocacy, systems thinking, critical thinking, and establishment of a healthy work environment. He/she functions as a leader and role model in accordance with American Registry of Radiology Technologists.
1. Assessment, Problem, and Outcome Identification: Assists in collecting and analyzing comprehensive data pertinent to the issue, situation, or trends and identifying expected outcomes.
2. Planning and Implementation: Assists in developing, maintaining and evaluating organizational systems to support planning and implementation of the delivery of care.
3. Evaluation/Quality of Care: Assists with the evaluation of progress towards attainment of outcomes.
4. Ethics: Decisions and actions are based on ethical principles. Code of Ethics for Radiology.
5. Research/Evidence-Based Practice: Assists with integrating evidence and research findings into practice by creating a supporting environment for knowledge based on research and standards of practice defined by American College of Radiology (ACR), and the Iowa Department of Public Health, Radiology Division.
6. Education and Professional Practice: Supports radiology practice in relation to practice standards and guidelines.
Cost Awareness: Contributes to the development of departmental budget. Ensures that budgetary concerns are communicated to the Imaging Services Director as needed.
Employee Performance: Identifies performance expectations and ensures that employees understand those expectations and are held accountable in meeting the expectations. Assesses employee performance in an accurate and timely manner and works with employees to resolve performance issues. Take timely and appropriate disciplinary actions. Acknowledges employee accomplishments.
Organizational Policies: Assists with communicating and enforcing Waverly Health Center policies. Develops policies and procedures essential to the operation of the department in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Staffing: Assists with maintaining departmental job descriptions. Collaborate with the Imaging Services Director to build a team with diverse skills and strengths by selecting the best candidate for each position. Develops effective staffing patterns to meet departmental needs.
