Position Description: | The University of Iowa, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting a BC/BE non-invasive cardiologist to serve as the Imaging Section Head in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. This position is in the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor in the clinical (non-tenure) or tenure track, depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will join a large academic group. This position is not eligible for university sponsorship for employment authorization. The candidate will be responsible for the strategic growth of the clinical imaging section, which includes Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac MRI and Cardiac CT. The candidate will work with the Heart and Vascular Center and the Department of Radiology to grow Advanced Cardiac Imaging Services. Responsibilities include faculty, APP and staff recruitment, staff development, coordination of clinical imaging services, overseeing clinical schedules, and managing quality of imaging programs. Direct reports will include Heads of Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac MRI, and Cardiac CT. The candidate should develop a research program related to Cardiovascular Imaging, with resources available for recruitment and support. Oversight of teaching at UIHC and affiliated sites, including general and advanced imaging fellows, is expected. Protected time will be provided for administrative duties and research funding. Clinical duties include performing imaging services, inpatient rounding, and outpatient clinics. Patient care will be at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, outreach sites, and Iowa City VA Medical Center. Applicants will need to disclose any misconduct history or pending investigations, and will be subject to background and credential checks. |
Education Requirement: | M.D. degree or equivalent. |
Required Qualifications: | Completion of an ACGME accredited residency and fellowship. At least 5 years of faculty experience, with expertise in Echocardiography and transesophageal Echocardiography. Experience in cardiac MRI and/or cardiac CT. Proven scholarly work and administrative leadership. Ability to foster excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship. Commitment to diversity. Experience in developing clinical programs. Excellent interpersonal skills. |
Certifications: | Board certification in cardiology. |
Desirable Qualifications: | Commitment to clinical and/or outcomes research. |
