We are seeking an Administrative Specialist (Scheduler) who will be responsible for all aspects of scheduling Imaging outpatients in the Interventional Radiology clinic. The Scheduler obtains clinical information and screens for exam appropriateness. In this role, you will schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments; coordinate anesthesia; verify orders; provide preparation information; obtain lab results, history and physicals, outside records, imaging, and written orders.

Summary of Essential Duties:
  • Prioritizes exams based on clinical indications and contraindications, or as delegated by clinical staff.
  • Accommodates all scheduling requests, with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Provides complete and accurate exam related information/instructions to the customers.
  • Screens for appropriateness based on the clinical information provided.
  • Participates in planning and implementing Tests of Change, for continual improvement.
  • Verifies referring physician orders against the scheduled appointment.
  • Coordinates all aspects of anesthesia and recovery.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Manages the referral work queue.
  • Coordinate procedural coverage with industry reps when requested/needed.
  • Provide coverage for the IR clinic phone.
  • Other assignments as needed or delegated.

Qualifications
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on healthcare preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of administrative experience in a fast paced and complex environment where critical thinking skills are necessary required
  • Experience in healthcare is beneficial
  • Demonstrated proficiency using a PC in a Windows environment required
