Job summary

GE HealthCare seeks an Image Quality Intern in Salt Lake City to work with senior engineers on image quality design solutions for surgery imaging products. You will refine image processing algorithms and participate in data collection and evaluation labs, gaining hands-on experience across cross-functional teams.

Eligible students pursuing EE/BE/Physics with a 3.0 GPA or higher are encouraged to apply. The role requires relocation to Salt Lake City for a 10‑week summer period and US work

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or closely related discipline.
• GPA: 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale).
• Returning to school Fall 2027.
• Can relocate to Salt Lake City, UT to work a minimum of 10 weeks full‑time over the summer.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.

Responsibilities

Job Description Summary

The Image Quality Intern is an educational opportunity for an engineering student to work alongside senior engineers in the development of image quality design solutions for GE HealthCare – Surgery imaging products. This role will be responsible for individual and team assignments and will work with cross‑functional teams to develop and evaluate complex surgical imaging systems and deliver best‑in‑class image quality.

Essential Responsibilities

Duties Include (but Are Not Limited To)

• Work in a small team to refine and tune image processing algorithms to improve image contrast, clarity, and detail.
• Participate in cadaver and/or live animal imaging labs to collect data for image processing algorithm evaluation.
• Survey image quality scientists and clinical imaging specialists to gather feedback on image results.
• Document design with technical rigor.
• Present image quality design results to team management.
• Assist in specification, design, verification, and validation of system features and sub‑systems relating to X‑ray exposure control, image processing, and visualization.
• Actively seek mentoring to learn and solve problems.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or closely related discipline
• Familiarity with and interest in Python programming
• Sophomore year minimum
• GPA: 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale)
• Returning to school Fall 2027
• Can relocate to Salt Lake City, UT to work a minimum of 10 weeks full‑time over the summer
