Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta seeks a data scientist specializing in medical imaging to support the mission by integrating data from multiple modalities and deriving information from image data using advanced processing techniques.

The role includes developing co-registration methods, supporting clinical investigations with imaging, and making processed data available to radiologists and clinicians via PACS, with opportunities to collaborate with Emory University as part of a broader research

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or related field; or equivalent experience with Bachelor's degree in lieu of Master's requirement.
• 3 years of experience in image processing and programming.
• Familiarity with operating systems and good programming skills; familiarity with DICOM data; familiarity with image registration.

Responsibilities

• Develops methodologies that permit reliable co-registration of data from different imaging modalities or multiple studies obtained using a single modality.
• Supports clinical investigations by developing advanced image processing techniques.
• Makes processed data accessible to radiologists and clinicians via picture archiving and communication system.
• Interfaces with magnetic resonance vendors to promote joint research projects.
• Collaborates with Emory University to enhance research capabilities.
• Provides image processing support for neurosciences and other service lines at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
• Supports departmental microscopy radiology certification and accreditation programs.
