Job summary

Daifuku North America, a leading provider of material handling systems, is hiring for a Full Time 1st Shift assembler in Hobart, IN. You will perform sub-assembly and packaging to specifications.

The role requires reading blueprints, tape measures, and basic computer use; candidates should have 1 year in machine assembly and strong attention to detail. Monday–Friday schedule supports career development and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of machine assembly experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performing sub-assembly based on drawings and supervisor instructions
  • Inspecting, testing and packaging assemblies to meet specs
  • Record assembly status using a computer
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety rules
  • Work overtime and different shifts as needed
  • Comply with Daifuku QMS policies and continuous improvement goals

Responsibilities
Position Summary

Completes S ub-A ssembly and packaging processes according to established operating procedures and engineering and quality specifications .

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Performing sub-assembly based on drawings and supervisor instructions
  • Following supervisors’ instructions of work to be performed
  • Inspecting, operating, and testing completed assemblies and finished product to verify function, quality, and conformance to specifications
  • Cleaning and lubricating parts and assemblies
  • Maintaining personal tool inventory
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work area based on quality goals
  • Using a computer to record assembly status
  • Following safety instructions and rules
  • Working overtime and assigned shifts as needed
  • Employees are responsible for complying with all requirements of Daifuku’s QMS policies and procedures.
  • Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High Schooldiplomaor equivalentpreferred
  • Minimumof 1year ofmachine assemblyexperience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
  • Ability to read and understand complex assembly drawings and blueprints
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Basic mathematical knowledge, including decimal and fractional equations
  • Knowledge of standard and decimal measurements, hand tools , and power tools
  • Knowledge of quality assu rance and self-inspection techniques
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Team orientation
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
ADA Requirements:
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from a work site to another.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
