Department Summary

The Controls Team Focuses on the design and modeling of a diverse range of dynamic mechatronic systems. This includes the integration and programming of the devices that will control the equipment and interface with material delivery and sortation systems throughout the plant. Works with the electrical design and overall project teams to document systems, coordinate electrical standardization and ensure consistence between projects. Designs and drafts control systems for material handling solutions using AutoCAD Electrical as needed. Drawing sets include device layout drawings, control schematics, panel layouts, and network and installation details.

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer II works with the overall project team to document systems. Designs and drafts control systems for material handling solutions using AutoCAD Electrical. Drawing sets include device layout drawings, control schematics, panel layouts, and network and installation details.

Responsibilities
  • Works closely with project leads to design schematic drawing sets based on project requirements
  • Designs system layouts, network layouts, and installation details
  • Prepares schematics and panel layouts for control panel fabrication
  • Creates bills of material for panels
  • Coordinates ordering of field materials and panels
  • Prints, plots, and assembles drawing sets for electrician bids, stamping, and field installation
  • Identifies and implements automation tools withinthe department to improve efficiency
  • Updates drawings to “as-built” status at project completion
  • Active participant in the team’s overall objectives
  • Travels up to 20% mostly within the Continental United States
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience designing industrial controls in a CAD environment
  • Knowledge of design of controls and controllers such as Rockwell/Allen-Bradley
  • Proficient with an electrical CAD design software; AutoCAD Electrical 2013+ preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical controls terminology
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 National Electric Code, NFPA 79 and other electrical/safety standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
