Job summary

Daifuku North America seeks a capable Mechatronics Technician to manage and support material handling automation equipment and projects in our Innovation Center in Bolingbrook, IL.

You will maintain and test systems, conduct tours and customer tests, and collaborate with an execution team to deliver automated solutions on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree or technical certification in a related engineering/tech field.
• Minimum 2 years in a mechatronics technician role, preferably with conveyors/material handling.
• Knowledge of material handling, WMS/fulfillment, distribution center operations, and supply chain logistics.
• Familiar with automation projects involving machines, robotics, controls and software.
• Familiar with SDLC and business accounting/contracts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment in the Innovation Center (Bolingbrook, IL).
• Facilitate tours of the Innovation Center and customer product tests.
• Provide technical and operational information on systems in the Innovation Center.
• Execute material handling equipment projects with structures, conveyors, machinery, and controls.
• Deliver subsystems on time and within budget, tested to rate and reliability requirements.
• Manage project resources and keep comprehensive project records (change log, action items, risk log).
• Follow Daifuku documentation and software development standards.
• Provide updates on deliverables, issues, and risks to projects.
• Assist at various jobsites within North America up to 20% travel.

Job description

Manages material handling automation equipment and projects for implementation in the Innovation Center involving a wide variety of equipment, machines, software, controls, and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Maintains equipment in the Innovation Center (Bolingbrook, IL)
• Facilitates and conducts tours of Innovation Center
• Facilitates and conducts customer product tests on equipment in Innovation Center
• Provides technical and operational information on systems in the Innovation CenterExecutes material handling equipment projects involving structures, conveyors, machinery, and controls.
• Collaborates with an execution and development team to implement industry leading automated systems.
• Delivers subsystems on time, on budget, and tested to machine rate and reliability requirements
• Manages project resources
• Keeps complete records of every project including a change log, action items, punch list, issues and risk monitoring log
• Follows Daifuku standards for documentation and software development
• Provides verbal and written updates to projects, including in-scope deliverables, project issues, and risks
• Ensures the Innocation Center is always presentable for tours
• Travels up to 20% to assist at various jobsites within North America
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

• Associate degree or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering (Technology), Electrical Engineering (Technology), Mechatronics, or related experience.
• Minimum 2 years in a mechatronics technician role, preferably in conveyor systems or material handling systems.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of material handling, warehouse management systems (WMS), fulfillment or distribution center operations, and supply chain logistics
• Knowledge of automation projects involving machines, robotics, controls, and software
• Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
• Knowledge of business accounting and contracts
• Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project skills
