Job summary

Project Genesis, Inc. is seeking Independent Living Skills Trainers (ILST) to work one-on-one with individuals in Plainfield, CT. You’ll help clients develop daily living skills, budgeting, cooking, and communication, while providing non-medical care and socialization per individualized plans.

The role supports ABI clients in gaining independence and confidence within a mission-driven nonprofit that values its team and community impact.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and good driving record.
• Verifiable experience with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI): 2 years with a high school diploma or equivalent, OR 1 year with a bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in developing independent living skills such as daily routines, budgeting, cooking, and communication.
• Provide non-medical care, supervision, and socialization based on each client’s personalized service plan.
• Encourage, guide, and celebrate progress — big and small.
• Be a positive, steady presence as clients build stronger, more fulfilling lives.
