Job description

Hourly Pay Range:

$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Location: Evanston Hospital
  • Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
  • Travel: A few times a month to hospital, community, and stakeholder locations throughout Illinois

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Research Coordinator will help increase patient and community participation in statewide perinatal quality improvement efforts to reduce disparities in maternal and neonatal outcomes. They will collaborate with diverse patients, communities, and outpatient community-based perinatal healthcare professionals to develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives aimed at improving birth equity in healthcare. The role involves fostering connections with patient/family partners, community partners, and healthcare providers, acting as an advocate and liaison between these groups and the Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative.

What you will do:

ILPQC is a nationally recognized Perinatal Quality Collaborative with over 90 hospitals. It facilitates statewide initiatives to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes and reduce disparities through collaborative learning, data sharing, and support for hospital quality improvement teams. Current projects include Birth Equity, Promoting Vaginal Birth, Newborn Equity, Safe Sleep, and the ILPQC Birth Quality Designation program.

The position involves working closely with the ILPQC leadership, staff, clinical teams, advisory groups, patients, community members, and hospital teams to develop, implement, and sustain quality improvement initiatives.

The main responsibilities include:

  1. Developing systems, communication tools, and tracking mechanisms for community engagement activities.
  2. Participating in ILPQC meetings, sharing updates, and exchanging ideas.
  3. Building relationships with patient/family and community partners, and outpatient healthcare providers.
  4. Serving as the primary contact for community and patient partners, fostering ongoing collaboration.
  5. Supporting hospital teams in developing patient and community partnerships for quality improvement.
  6. Coordinating webinars, community advisory meetings, and statewide webinars to engage stakeholders.
  7. Assisting in event planning for in-person learning opportunities, including communications and website/social media support.
  8. Ensuring data collection and reporting are accessible and meaningful to community partners.
  9. Providing quality improvement support through calls, meetings, and regional sessions.
  10. Participating in financial tasks like budgeting, expense submission, and invoice processing.
  11. Assisting with grant writing, monitoring grant timelines, and preparing reports and publications.

What you will need:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in public health, nursing, social work, social or health sciences, or related fields; or a combination of education and experience with at least 3 years' relevant experience. Alternatively, a master's degree or higher in a related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
