MCHS Family of Services seeks an ILP Supervisor to plan, direct, and coordinate life skills and daily activities for the Independent Living Plus house. You will ensure program compliance and collaborate with the Director of Transitional Programs to meet agency goals.

You will supervise staff, maintain records, and develop trainings while guiding youth toward personal growth and wellbeing in a structured residential setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a human behavioral science such as Social Work or related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years experience in a residential or inpatient setting working with serious emotional disorder (SED) at-risk youth between the ages of 7-17.
  • Experience as a supervisor in a residential program preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows, MS Office and internet applications to perform duties.
  • Knowledge of group dynamics and methods of modifying behavior.

Job description

As part of the group treatment team, the Independent Living Plus (ILP) Supervisor plans, directs, and coordinates the activities and life skills of the ILP house. The ILP supervisor oversees the house to ensure it meets agency expectations and goals, ensures the house maintains compliance with agency and DHHS requirements, assess house needs, develops goals and life skills curriculum and ensures that the house has a cooperative working relationship with the rest of the program and agency, supervises assigned staff and assists them in their job duties.

II. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Along with the Foster Care Case Manager the ILP supervisor leads a group treatment team with the responsibility for ensuring each child successfully completes the goals set forth in their service plan.
  • Manages the house to ensure it operates within the rules, regulations and guidelines set forth by the State of Michigans DHHS and MCHS.
  • Establish and oversee administrative procedures to meet objectives set by the Director of Transitional Programs and the leadership team; participate in developing department goals and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain house systems, records and reports; recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures for continual improvement of house services.
  • Supervise assigned staff and volunteers to ensure that they are functioning within the requirements of their job duties; provide guidance, training, assistance, and support to staff when needed, including planning, staffing, performance management, professional development, adjusting workloads as necessary, and addressing and resolving complaints to create a climate of teamwork and motivation; perform the duties of an ILP Mentor as needed.
  • Act as staff expert for the house; work with the other supervisors and the DCW regarding house or program licensing/certification rules, re-licensing, complaints, and rulings to ensure ongoing compliance with all agency, licensing, contractual, and legal obligations and requirements.
  • Operate and help in the development of the guidelines of the Employee Handbook, programs Operations Manual, and DHHS Policies and Procedures.
  • Help youth develop essential skills to navigate daily life effectively, achieve personal growth, and improve their overall well-being.
  • Teach essential life skills such as communication, decision-making, problem solving, time management and financial literacy.
  • Organize group workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Track clients progress and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the social sector with a passion for MCHSs mission and vision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transitional Programs.
III. BASIC COMPETENCIES

Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in a human behavioral science such as Social Work or a related discipline where 25% of the course credits earned toward the degree are in human behavior sciences.

Minimum of two (2) years experience in a residential or inpatient setting working with serious emotional disorder (SED) at-risk youth between the ages of 7 17.

Experience as a supervisor in a residential program preferred.

Knowledge Requirements: Computer and software applications (Windows, MS Office, Internet applications, etc.) necessary to perform the duties of the position.

The behavior patterns of youth and methods of modifying behavior.

Group dynamics and sensitivity to individual members of the group.

Handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

Attend and conduct agency training and maintain necessary certifications and licenses.

Maintain a Michigan drivers license and driving record that allows the operation of an agency or personal vehicle for agency business or to transport clients as needed.
