Job summary

Asphalt Green, a nonprofit fitness organization in New York, seeks an experienced IGNITE Group Exercise Instructor to lead our signature IGNITE classes at the Battery Park City campus. You will coach, demonstrate movements, and ensure safe, high-energy workouts that challenge participants of varying abilities.

You are a strong communicator with a foundation in functional fitness, Olympic lifting, and powerlifting.

Qualifications

• Current nationally recognized fitness certification (AFAA/ACE/NASM) or CFL1/USAW Level 1 is required.
• CPR/AED certification is required.
• Strong understanding of movement mechanics and exercise safety.
• Ability to coach effectively without a microphone.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, engaging IGNITE classes.
• Coach movements using dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, rowers, and SkiErgs.
• Demonstrate proper technique on rowers and SkiErgs.
• Provide modifications and progressions based on participant ability.
• Maintain class timing and transitions.
• Ensure equipment is used safely and returned properly.
