A leading company in food processing seeks a Machine Operator responsible for the setup and operation of production machines. You will perform maintenance, ensure compliance with quality standards, and engage actively with the team to promote productivity and safety. Candidates with experience in poultry processing will be favored, and military backgrounds are welcomed.
To ensure that all products are produced to meet specifications and established standards required by the customer and the company.
Responsible for daily set-up and operation of the production machine. Enter product code by hand.
Operate machine to production standards.
Perform preventive maintenance and inspect equipment regularly.
Perform basic light maintenance on the machine. Assist Maintenance Mechanics with troubleshooting activities as needed.
Properly adjust production machines to ensure efficiency, quality, and accuracy with minimal product loss.
Maintain accurate inventory of supplies needed to operate the machine.
Handwrite documentation of product specifications and bag usage.
Participate as a member of the team. Engage in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. Coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attend team meetings. Foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues such as direction, annual plans, budgets, and policy changes. Quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness, bring issues to the team leader, and work collaboratively to resolve them. Actively seek ways to achieve synergy within the organization.
Familiar with Simmons’ operating systems principles and objectives, including quality, security, office environment, and company policies. Understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with these systems and support the position’s role in their maintenance, considering the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns and improvement ideas.
Perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives. This description guides the activities of the Machine Operator but is not exhaustive of all work that may be required.
Physical Activities: Able to work on feet for the entire shift, including bending, squatting, stooping, working in elevated areas, and climbing stairs and ladders. Capable of lifting/moving 3-20 pounds bags of product at waist level and assisting in moving 30-150 lbs rolls of plastic bags and film. Able to work in a cool, wet, and noisy environment.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Use waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection, slip-resistant footwear, safety glasses, lockout lock, hasp, and tag.
Travel: Not applicable.
Technical Experience: Troubleshooting machines, basic mechanical skills, and computer literacy.
Industry Experience: Preference for candidates with experience in poultry or food processing industries.
Competencies: Strong teamwork skills, decision-making ability, and effective communication with others and leadership.
