Special Education (1.0) Teacher /Low Incidence

Ithan Elementary School

Job Goal:

The Low Incidence Disability Specialist will provide support and assist in coordinating instructional programs relating to special education students and their Individual Education Plans. He/she will monitor the programs with students with low incidence disabilities. To work with regular education staff in planning and delivering special education programs that enable students with Low Incidence to spend as much time as appropriate in the regular education environment. Specific areas of knowledge or expertise include the following:

• Alternate Eligible Content
• Inclusive practices
• Life Skills Support and/or Autistic Support experience
• Knowledge with writing Individual Education Plans
• Experience with supplemental reading, writing and math programs
• Knowledge of implementing social skills programs
• Knowledge of writing and implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans

Qualifications:

• PA Certificate: Special Education, required
• Experienced in supplemental academic programming and behavioral modifications
• Experience/Knowledge in the area of inclusion and modifying curriculum
• Knowledge of the principles of behavior management
• Ability to analyze the instructional environment and design strategies that will assist the student to function appropriately within that environment
