Job summary

Hiawatha Academies is seeking a Special Education Coordinator to serve as the campus compliance anchor for the Special Education team, owning IEP due process, compliance monitoring, family engagement, and data integrity for students with IEPs on the assigned campus.

This on-site role collaborates with Special Education teachers, the Dean of Special Education, and the Network Support Team to keep IEPs on track and families informed, without carrying a caseload.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least 3 years of work experience as a special education teacher and/or leader in a K-12 setting.
• Teaching licensure in special education or related service area.
• Explicit commitment to equitable outcomes for Black and Indigenous students and students of color.
• Experience coaching and developing teachers.

Responsibilities

• Manage IEP and evaluation timelines and family communication.
• Coordinate IEP and evaluation meetings and maintain documentation.
• Monitor timelines and flag risks to the Network Special Education Team.
• Lead MDR coordination and conduct file audits.
• Provide coaching to Special Education teachers and paraprofessionals.
