The Ohio State School for the Blind is currently seeking an IEP Coordinator. This position:
Tracks, schedules and facilitates Individual Education Plan (IEP) for the school year:
- Works with school psychologist to track and schedule Evaluation Team Review (ETR) meetings for the school year;
- Maintains a list of IEP due dates, contact information for parents and LEA special education directors to assist with timely and accurate IEP scheduling;
- Informs required participants of scheduled IEP meeting details with advanced notice and documents attempts to schedule at convenient times;
- Contacts district and parents to schedule needed meetings;
- Maintains a calendar of meetings that are accessible to staff;
- Keeps appropriate documentation of contacts;
- Proofreads each IEP to ensure compliance;
- Provides teachers with feedback for any needed changes;
- Ensures IEPs are completed in a timely manner in order for a draft to be sent to parents and district ahead of the meetings;
- Advises administrators, counselors, teachers or other pertinent personnel regarding the need to draft special attachments;
- Advises administrator of any issues with draft IEP or IEP meeting processes;
- Responds to various district needs;
- Prints and files IEP packet once completed;
- Sends completed packets to parents and districts;
- Supports staff in completing IEP progress reports.
Coordinates the intake process:
- Explains the intake process to districts and parents;
- Sends intake packet to district;
- Collects all information into a file;
- Reviews the file with Director of Teaching and Learning and then sends it to appropriate staff;
- Works with staff and Director of Teaching and Learning to determine eligibility for placement;
- Ensures start date and access to all necessary information for start date for student;
- Coordinates the acceptance letters and cooperative agreement.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge and performs other duties as assigned:
- Attends training in order to stay current on IEP and ETR mandates;
- Provides professional development for teachers on needed components for compliant IEPs;
- Facilitates IEP meetings and responds to various district needs;
- Establishes professional networks and participates in professional organizations;
- Stays current of best practices, new requirements, content areas and research in the VI field through professional development;
- Participates in faculty meetings, supervisory meetings, school committees and professional development activities.
Must maintain valid Ohio teaching licensure for grade level, subject area or special class assignment

Intervention Specialist (K-12) - Visual Impairments.*
*Intervention Specialist (K-12) - Visual Impairments certification/licensure may be attained within two years of employment.
