Job summary

Ro is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Identity and Privacy team in New York. You will build and scale privacy-first identity and data systems that support consent, data governance, and robust security practices to enable patient-focused healthcare delivery.

You will design, implement, and operate distributed data pipelines, authentication systems, and event-driven data flows, collaborating with security, legal, marketing, and data teams to balance compliance and patient experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with at least 2 years at staff level.
• Focus on distributed systems, data infrastructure, privacy, or security.
• Strong Python proficiency and production-grade systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale privacy-first, distributed data systems and consent management.
• Design and operate high-throughput, event-driven architectures for first-party data.
• Contribute to authentication and identity systems including MFA and lifecycle management.
• Architect and scale asynchronous data pipelines for real-time and batch use cases.
• Partner with marketing and growth to enable privacy-compliant workflows.
• Implement privacy-preserving techniques and ensure compliant data flows to third parties.
• Collaborate with security and legal to enforce governance and compliance.
