Job summary

Legacy Behavioral Health Services seeks a Direct Support Professional to join our Lowndes team in South Georgia. You will support individuals with developmental disabilities in a 24/7 residential program, delivering daily living skills training and community integration per the Individual Service Plan.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a GA driver’s license with <5 points, and CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain). Must be available for nights, weekends and holidays. We offer paid leave and an Employee Assistance Program.

Responsibilities

Legacy Behavioral Health Services is seeking a Direct Support Professionalto join our Lowndes team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting individuals and families throughout South Georgia with compassionate, high-quality behavioral health services.

Under supervision Direct Support Professionals will provide training and support services to people with developmental disabilities in a 24/7 community residential program. Responsibilities include delivering skills training in daily living and community integration as outlined by the Individual Service Plan, maintaining a clean and sanitary home environment to meet CARF safety regulations, and assisting in coordinating transportation for persons served. Teamwork with fellow staff members is essential to ensure the highest quality of IDD services. Proficiency in computer skills is required. Additionally, the position requires monitoring and documenting persons served progress in treatment. Flexibility to work varying hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

The Direct Support Professional will be supervised by the Site Manager.

Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED; required
• Valid GA driver’s license with less than 5 points.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain CPR Certification.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be physically and emotionally fit to work in a stress-filled environment to meet deadlines and deal with routine and crisis situations. May have extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing. Requires varying hours of duty to provide monitoring, educational and/or crisis handling, as well as travel to off campus locations in BHSGA or personal vehicle.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: the physical demands include but are not limited to good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting andhave the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 45 pounds.
