Job summary

Hammer & NER in Minnesota is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide daily support to individuals with IDD. You will help with daily living skills, medication administration, and community participation, while upholding the company's person-centered values.

The role requires driving to activities around the Twin Cities, cross-training at multiple locations, and work that includes evenings, weekends and holidays. A valid MN driver’s license and training completion are essential.

Qualifications

• Employees must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work with people of different abilities, genders, ages, cultures, and ethnicities.
• Ability and willingness to assist individuals with activities of daily living including bathing and toileting.
• Ability and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior.
• Requires a valid driver’s license, access to a personal auto and driving record that meets Hammer’s insurance requirements.
• Must receive a MN DHS Background study clearance and show freedom from Tuberculosis. Must be able to successfully complete all required training.
• Excellent communication skills including fluency in English and competence with typing, emailing, and mastering the organization’s documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Daily Living Skills by supervising medical, financial, social and emotional needs.
• Assist with program areas including personal hygiene care, medication administration, chores and community support.
• Safely drive company or personal vehicle to activities around the Twin Cities and support community participation.
• Report accidents, injuries and illnesses and follow procedures for emergencies.
• Follow laws as a mandated reporter to protect vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
