Job summary

IDB Group invites an active graduate student to join as an intern under the Consultant modality for the 2027 Winter Internship Program. The paid internship, based at Headquarters, enables on-the-job learning in development work and corporate management of the Bank.

You will work on data-driven solutions to monitor and improve portfolio performance, with exposure to Power BI, Tableau, and SQL among other tools. This is a unique entry path into international development work.

Qualifications

• Active graduate student in computer science, data science, industrial engineering or similar.
• Graduation date after internship period.
• Fluency in English with working knowledge of another Bank language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and help improve Power BI and Tableau dashboards showing portfolio quality and trends.
• Assist mapping and integration of data sources to improve accessibility and validation.
• Support centralized portfolio monitoring dashboards consolidating performance, compliance, and metrics.
• Assist in mapping key portfolio management processes to identify improvements.

About this position

The IDB Group is looking for an active graduate student to be hired as an intern under the Consultant modality.

The 2027 Winter Internship Program is a competitive paid opportunity, based in Headquarters, for university students to learn about development work and corporate management of the Bank, and to acquire work experience at the professional level through on-the-job learning.

What you'll do

Help develop data-driven solutions to improve portfolio monitoring and efficiency, specifically:

• Review and help improve Power BI and Tableau dashboards that provide visibility into portfolio quality and trends.
• Support the identification, mapping, and integration of key data sources to improve data accessibility, extraction, and validation.
• Support the development and maintenance of centralized portfolio monitoring dashboards that consolidate portfolio performance, compliance, and operational metrics.
• Support the mapping of key portfolio management processes to identify opportunities for improvement.

What you'll need

• Education: An active graduate student in computer science, data science, industrial engineering or similar from an accredited University. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.
• Languages: Fluency in English with a working knowledge of one other Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Result-driven, collaborative, innovative, client-oriented, strong communicator, self-motivated, eager to learn, and excellent time management event.
• Key Skills: Learn continuously, collaborate and share knowledge, focus on clients, communicate and influence, innovate and try new things.
• Technical skills: Ability to work with multiple data sources and large datasets. Desirable knowledge in Advanced Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables, data analysis) and SQL for data extractions and manipulation. Experience/expertise in dashboard design and KPI development. Desirable knowledge in Power B (preferred) and/or Tableau.

Requirements

• Citizenship: IDB Invest has no nationality restrictions.
• Active student: Enrolled in a graduate (master's or Ph.D.) program as of the starting date of the internship program. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.
• Consanguinity: Not have family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB or IDB Invest.
• First job at the IDB Group: Be a first-time participant in an Internship Program held by the Bank or Inter-American Investment Corporation ("Corporation" also known as "IDB Invest"). In addition, you have not been a former staff member, Complementary Workforce ("CW"), contractor for the Bank or the Corporation, or have previously provided services to the Bank or the Corporation through a contractor or under any other contractual modality.
