Job summary

HDR is seeking an Idaho Area Mining Lead to manage mining projects and client relationships in Idaho. You will identify opportunities, champion pursuits, and coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts with HDR’s mining practice.

The role focuses on planning, directing, and monitoring large projects with high technical complexity, including field programs, while promoting HDR services and building senior client relationships both on-site and at corporate levels.

Qualifications

Job description

At HDR, the Idaho Area Mining Lead will focus on mining project and client management, working on projects and pursuits with key clients in Idaho. This role will identify and develop project opportunities, serve as a pursuit champion, and act as a resource for HDR mining pursuits and related project opportunities. Duties include planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of large, multi‑discipline projects or medium‑size projects with high technical complexity, including field programs.

Business Development Responsibilities
  • Serves as Client Manager for selected key greenfield and brownfield mines within the area and remains active and visible in the industry.
  • Promotes all HDR services to clients in collaboration with the Resources Business Group Manager, Mining Practice Lead, and Mining BD Lead.
  • Works with the RBG Manager on the development and delivery of area and department market sector initiatives.
  • Leads and/or supports selected pursuits through client relationship development, strategy development, and participation in pursuit activities.
  • Participates in industry associations and serves as a company role‑model in business and community organizations through presentations and panel discussions.
  • Identifies key investments—skills, acquisitions, and technology—to maintain or advance HDR’s leadership position in the mining industry.
  • Develops relationships with mining counterparts in other consulting organizations.
  • Builds relationships with senior leadership in key client organizations, both on‑site and corporately.
Staff Development Responsibilities
  • Seeks opportunities to enhance practices for better market performance and staff growth and development, including recruitment of future mining practice employees.
  • Assumes responsibility for coordination and support between departments.
  • Works with Resources business class directors and Mining Practice to drive technical excellence and coordinate technical staff for program and marketing efforts.
  • Leads the area in identifying needs and opportunities for new and improved technical services and products to maximize depth, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Coordinates staffing and recruiting plans for key hires with the Mining Practice Lead, Mining BD Lead, and Area Manager.
  • Assists local leadership with local hire onboarding.
  • Identifies resource gaps and supports talent management and recruiting.
Support to Area
  • Assists the Area Manager and RBG Lead in delivering services within the Industrial sector, driving client management, monitoring profit and loss, ensuring project delivery, and supporting the QA/QC program.
  • Facilitates cooperation and eliminates hurdles and barriers to success.
  • Works with Area business group leadership and Mining Practice Lead to implement process improvements and leverage work sharing to meet or exceed planned goals.
  • Monitors staff workload, facilitates work sharing, and promotes effective use of company resources.
  • Assists with contract review on key projects to ensure risk management, proper staffing, quality reviews, and claim resolution.
  • Promotes Quality Assurance/Quality Control, working with business class and regional leadership to provide key technical expertise for marketing and project activities.
  • Facilitates development and dissemination of lessons learned within the Area and Mining Practice.
  • Takes on project management and technical assignments based on technical skills and need.
