Job summary

MedVet in Huntersville, NC is seeking a Nursing/ICU Veterinary Technician to join a fast-paced clinical team. The role centers on supervising hospitalized patients, assisting with anesthesia, and collaborating with DVMs to implement treatment plans and client education.

The ideal candidate is a State Registered Veterinary Technician or has extensive veterinary nursing experience, with strong calculations, communication skills, and flexibility to cover varying shifts.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; nursing or critical care experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions, etc.).
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
